Isla Margarita has more than 50 beaches to chose from, so if you feel like getting away from the busier ones there are plenty of options available for you to visit.
Located on the west coast of Margarita Island, Playa Caribe is one of the more popular smaller beaches, with nice sand and good swimming. There are restaurants, and services like jet-ski and boat rental. Playa Caribe has become known for it’s party atmosphere after dark, with an emphasis on music and dancing.
Playa Punta Arenas
Playa Punta Arenas is located in the far west of the island, which means it tends not to get too crowded. The white, sandy beach is over one kilometer long, the water is quite shallow and the lack of strong waves make it a very pleasant place for swimming. There are a few restaurants and it’s possible to hire sunshades and beach chairs too.
Close to Manzanillo village in the north of Isla Margarita, Playa Manzanillo is becoming increasingly popular with visitors, perhaps due in part to the presence of the local fisherman. It is certainly fascinating to watch them as they return to the shore with their day’s catch. The beach itself is pleasant but certainly not one of the best on the island, but it’s great for a visit and the perfect place to get a extra-fresh seafood meal.
Playa Puerto Cruz
Another fairly long beach in the north of Isla Margarita, it’s beautiful white sand make it a pleasure to visit. The Dunes Resort and the five star Hesperia Hotel are located in this part of the island, and it’s not hard to see why they picked this location. The usual services are available, the scenery is great and quite honestly Playa Puerto Cruz is one of the favorite beaches on Margarita Island for many visitors.
